Big Changes at Beechwood
At the end of 2012 two prominent sub committees that have served Auchinleck Talbot FC came to the end of their time. The Centenary Committee, formed during Talbot's Centenary year, have been a tremendous success and have contributed to various projects in and around the village and the club, including the garden in the town, they are also important to the future as we shall see. The Building Committee also disbanded at the end of 2012 ending a 24 year life, their achievements are apparent in the form of the grandstand and covered enclosure behind the goal. Sadly the committee lost one of it's founder members Malcolm Dunnachie, a sad loss to the committee, the Talbot family and the of course Malcolm's own family and friends. The grandstand is now, at last, paid off with a joint effort between both the above mentioned committees, this has allowed us all to move forward.
A new committee has been formed involving the three remaining Building Committee members and part of the Centenary Committee. The Beechwood Regeneration Committee were formed in November 2012 and have been hard at work. They have organised a three year working plan to bring Beechwood up to Bronze category ground criteria, a level above entry. The first and imminent project is a replacement enclosure to be constructed on the Main St side behind the dug outs, the Centenary Committee have contributed financially to this and the new committee are working hard to raise the remaining funds and are on schedule for this to be in place for the start of next season. The proposed structure is 25m x 6m and a modern design with a traditional apex roof, it is designed for minimal viewing restrictions with only two posts at the front, drawings to follow. The following season the committee will concentrate on providing a new structure containing proper toilet facilities including disabled, modern catering area and corporate facilities, this is planned for summer 2014. The three year plan culminates in summer 2015 with the provision of a floodlighting system of 3.5 lux standard, these proposals together with some formalities like, for example, an officially calculated capacity for the ground conducted by a qualified competent person, would gain the ground Bronze Level Ground Criteria under present SFA guidelines, as was stated this is above entry level. The future may well bring Silver Level but that is something to be discussed at a later date.
The new committee are working very hard and on schedule for the first part of the three year plan. There are various funders and grants available, and possibly even more with the new pyramid proposals. However none of these organisation are interested in helping clubs who don't help themselves. The clubs recent acquisition of the Quality Mark is fundamental in this aspect, as is the clubs willingness to contribute financially themselves, fundraising is therefore paramount. It is hoped that the supporters and wider community recognise the benefit of the upgrades proposed and back fundraising events in the way Talbot fans usually do.
