Whitletts Victoia News
Whitletts Victoria have signed midfielder Shaun Allan from local amateur cracks Glenburn Miners Welfare.
The Ayrshire Amateur cap, who averaged better than a goal ever two games for Glenburn last season, becomes the fourth new recruit to manager Steph McMillan’s squad ahead of the new season following the signings of Raymond Buchanan, Mick O’Connor and Tony Balfour. The move could see Allan team up with former Glenburn striker Neil McGinn who spent the second half of last season with the Dam Park club and has signed a new two year deal with the Ayr club.
Allan said that he is relishing the prospect of stepping up from amateur to junior level and is keen to show what he can do playing at a higher level.
“I am looking forward to playing in junior football for Whitletts Victoria. I have enjoyed playing for Glenburn who are a great club but I am excited by the challenges that lie ahead. The Club has ambitions to bounce back following the disappointment of last season and I’m keen to play my part in achieving those goals. The atmosphere at pre-season training has been exhilarating with everyone really up for it and looking forward to the new season. ”
Manager Steph McMillan expressed his delight at his recent capture.
“Shaun Allan is a player that I’ve admired for a while. He knows the way to goal and can play either as a striker or as an attacking midfielder. He provides different options for us as an attacking midfielder and believe that he will be a vital player for us in an attacking sense”
The Vics’ boss also revealed his delight at re-signing Neil McGinn who he believes will be like a new signing for the Club. “Neil played under me at Annbank and is a natural goalscorer. He played only a handful of games last season as his fitness levels weren’t great yet he ended up the Clubs’ top scorer. However in pre-season he has demonstrated his desire to get fit and has worked really hard in training. He has impressed me greatly and I’m confident that he will also be a major asset to us in the new campaign.”
