Rutherglen look for 1975 team members

 
Rutherglen Glencairn are looking to reunite their Junior Cup heroes from nearly 40 years ago after their side made it to the last four for the first time since 1975.

 
The club now want to turn the home leg of their two tie semi-final into a real celebration by bringing back some well know faces – the team that reached the 1975 Final at Hampden only to lose 1-0 to Gloenrothes.

 
The team then included Tony Ward, James Speirs, Jim McManus, Mick Carracher, Alan Roberts, Brian Reid, Jim Mullaney, Ronny McDonald, Tony Dickson, John Evans, Willie Woods , Paul McMillan and William McGranaghan.

 
A club spokesperson said: “We will be making every effort to contact each of the players in the build-up to the match over the next few weeks to provide a personal invite, however we realise that some players may prove to be more difficult to contact than others

 
“sadly, not all of the squad are with us anymore, and our thoughts are with these players’ families and we remember their contribution to the club with grateful affection.”
