WILSON & WALLACE SIGNS FOR VICS
Whitletts Victoria have continued to strengthen their squad with the signing of two experienced junior players who are both returning to that level after spending last season playing the amateur game.
Former Albion Rovers and Auchinleck Talbot striker George Wallace has put pen to paper to join the Dam Park Side as has former Vics striker Jim Wilson.
Wallace, who helped Hurlford United to promotion two seasons ago, spent last season with Scottish Amateur Cup winners Hurlford Thistle, can also play in defence and manager Steph McMillan believes that his experience will be vital to his side.
“George is a player I know very well and his experience will be a huge asset to the side. In recent seasons he has played more as a central defender but made his name as a striker so he knows the route to goal as well. He has impressed in pre-season training and his versatility will give us options and I’m hoping that some of our younger players will learn a lot from him.”
Meanwhile former Annbank and Glenafton striker Jim Wilson returns to the club where he spent a season three years ago before moving on to Kello.
He re-joins the Dam Park side after a year in the amateur ranks with Netherthird and is re-united with Vics’ boss Steph McMillan who gave him his break in junior football when manager at Annbank.
“Jim is a player who I have known for many years.” Said Steph. “He knows the route to goal and will give us a variety of options in both midfield and striker positions and will have a key role for us in our promotion bid this season.”
