Whitletts Vics : End of an Era

After 12 years with Whitletts Victoria, the Club have agreed to release former skipper Graham Longair from his contract to allow him to continue his playing career elsewhere. Graham joined Whitletts in 2004 and his service to the Club was recognised with a testimonial against Ayr United two years ago but now he feels it is time to move to pastures new to continue his playing career as long as possible.

Graham said "I always thought I would end my playing career with Whitletts and I thought about calling it a day at the end of last season when my playing opportunities began to reduce."

"However I decided to give it another go and I'm glad I did. I've had a good pre-season under my belt and feel really fit and want to continue to play the game as long as I can."
"As a club Whitletts are in a good place right now and I know that my playing opportunities would have been restricted but believe I still have the ability and the experience to help other local clubs at this level."

Thanking Graham for his service to the Club, Chairman John Dalton said that Longair was a Club legend.
"Graham joined the Club as a teenager and through his time at Whitletts he has seen many changes in the clubs fortunes. He was skipper of the 2009 promotion winning side and has had 4 years experience playing in the Superleague."

"To spend over 12 years with your local junior club shows tremendous loyalty and whichever Club he ends up signing for he will prove to be a major asset to them. But he will always be a Whitletts legend and will always be welcomed back to the Club."

It is expected that Graham will turn out as a trialist for Maybole in Saturday's match against Craigmark at Ladywell Stadium.
